The Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team will be without Chance Westry in its season-opener vs. Le Moyne, first reported by Jon Rothstein. Westry, who missed time in preseason practice with an illness, will have to wait for his return for an official game.

Westry was held out of both Syracuse exhibition contests due to illness. He was cleared for basketball activities at Syracuse over the summer after suffering a knee injury last year, which caused him to miss the entire season.

Westry, a second-year player at Syracuse, transferred in after his freshman season at Auburn. His season with the Tigers ended after 11 games with an injury to the opposite knee he injured at Syracuse. He was a former top-40 recruit in the class of 2022.

Westry was present in the JMA Wireless Dome on Monday night but he did not warm up with the team. A versatile 6-foot-6 guard, Westry is expected to be able to play multiple positions at Syracuse when he returns.
